BOWEN THERAPY: GENTLE, EFFECTIVE, RESTORATIVE
Bowen Therapy is a gentle hands-on technique that activates the body’s natural ability to restore balance. Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, injury recovery, or simply need a reset, Bowen offers a subtle yet powerful way to support your body’s return to ease.
... My hip has felt SO much better since I saw you! I literally can't believe what an impact it has had already. So much of my pain disappeared to the point of me almost forgetting that I was injured! I would love to come see you for another treatment soon... Thanks so much for everything!"

HOW IT WORKS
Sessions involve precise rolling movements over muscles and connective tissue, followed by short pauses to allow the body to integrate. These pauses encourage a “reset” in the nervous system—supporting detoxification, lymphatic flow, immune function, and improved hydration in the fascia.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You’ll receive the session fully clothed. It’s normally done lying on a massage table, but can also be done sitting or standing. Moves are gentle and non-invasive. Most people feel deeply relaxed during and after, and the effects often unfold over 3–10 days. While some issues resolve in just a few sessions, more complex conditions may take longer.

Q + A
Is Bowen Therapy covered by insurance?
Some extended health plans may cover Bowen Therapy, but coverage varies, so it's best to check directly with your provider. You might also want to ask your accountant if it's eligible as a medical expense on your income tax return.
Does Bowen hurt?
No. Bowen is very gentle. There's no cracking, pulling, or forcing. Many people feel calmer and more relaxed after a session, and report a sense of spaciousness in the body.
What should I wear?
Wear light, comfortable clothing. Bowen is done fully clothed, and you’ll be lying on a massage table or seated if needed.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different, but many people notice changes within 1 to 3 sessions. Most issues need 3-5 sessions, chronic or complex issues may take longer. Some come for support with a specific issue, others book in regularly to stay balanced and well.
Is Bowen Therapy safe for everyone?
Yes. Bowen is safe and effective for people of all ages—from newborns to the elderly. It's also suitable during pregnancy, post-surgery, or while recovering from injury.
What will I feel during or after a session?
You might feel warmth, tingling, or subtle shifts. Afterward, you may feel deeply relaxed, tired, or even a little energized. Some people feel immediate relief, while others notice gradual changes over a few days.
Is Bowen safe during pregnancy?
Yes, it’s very safe and supportive during pregnancy. It can ease discomfort, support posture changes, calm the nervous system, and prepare the body for birth.
Can athletes benefit from Bowen Therapy?
Absolutely. Bowen helps release tension and improve mobility, which can support faster recovery and better performance. Many athletes use it to stay balanced, reduce the risk of injury, and keep their body functioning at its best.
Can I combine Bowen with other therapies?
Yes, Bowen works well alongside other treatments like physiotherapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, or talk therapy. It can enhance results by calming the nervous system and supporting integration. It’s advised to give other hands on therapies a rest for 7 days after a Bowen session.
"I have tried several Bowen Therapy sessions elsewhere recently and I can't believe how talented Janine is! I wish I had gone to her first. My tailbone now has so much more feeling in it, the nerve problem in my arm is 50% better and my neck's range of movement is at 100%! I can't recommend Janine enough. She is lovely too and worth the drive.”
